The minimum age ranges from 4 to 12. Here is which tour takes whom.
The short answer
Children can join snowshoe tours from Rovaniemi from different ages: Beyond Arctic from 6, Wild about Lapland's day trip from 5, ToTheNorth from 8, Nordic Escapes from 9, and Into North and Apukka Resort from 10. NordicUnique Travels sets no minimum age but asks that children under 12 come with a paying adult. For children under 6, Beyond Arctic offers private tours.

Each snowshoe price is per adult and is read from GetYourGuide or Viator when the page opens, so a listing with a hotel surcharge or a second option can cost more on the booking page.
Each card starts with pickup and clothing. Open it for the full list of what is included and who the operator turns away.
Winter clothing and boots included, fire-making shown by the guide. No pickup in the city centre: from there you walk to the meeting point.
A relaxed snowshoe walk into the forest with an introduction to walking on snowshoes and some basic survival and fire-making skills. The guide lights a fire and serves a snack. The operator recommends bringing a camera.
Pickup, clothing, food and age limits as the operator lists them on the booking page.
A professional photographer leads the walk, gives camera tips and shares edited photos afterwards. Break in a teepee, from age 6.
A people carrier drives from Rovaniemi to a forest, where the group puts on deep-snow snowshoes and walks a few kilometres. The guide is a professional photographer and gives tips for landscape and nature pictures. The break is in a teepee by the fire. The operator sets the minimum age at 6 because the tour is photography-based and fairly demanding.
Pickup, clothing, food and age limits as the operator lists them on the booking page.
A forest about 30 km outside Rovaniemi and a lunch cooked over the fire in a teepee. Dress in your own warm layers.
After pickup, the van drives about 30 km out of Rovaniemi to a forest for the snowshoe walk. Afterwards the group gathers around a fire in a teepee for lunch, then drives back and is dropped at each accommodation.
Pickup, clothing, food and age limits as the operator lists them on the booking page.
Overall and boots are lent, and the walk ends with sausages and hot blueberry juice at a fire. Needs at least two guests to run, four on Sundays.
A guided snowshoe walk in the forest near Rovaniemi, possibly across a lake, followed by a campfire barbecue. The operator describes it as suitable for small children and people who do little sport. No distance or walking time is given.
Pickup, clothing, food and age limits as the operator lists them on the booking page.
Wild about Lapland takes children from 5 on its day trip and lends winter clothing and boots, but does not pick up in the city centre. Beyond Arctic accepts children from 6, explaining that the tour is photography based and quite demanding, and arranges a private tour for younger children on request. Aihki Adventures takes children from 7 on its evening walk. Two newer listings without reviews yet go lower: Northern Future from 5, with sleds provided for children who need them, and Lapland Welcome from 4.
ToTheNorth, with its lunch in a teepee, starts at 8, as does Wonderlapland's night hike. Nordic Escapes takes children from 9. Into North, Apukka Resort and Wild about Lapland's night walk start at 10. NordicUnique Travels sets no minimum but asks that children under 12 are accompanied by a paying adult, and its listing describes the walk as a joyful experience even for little kids.
Arctic GM at Vikaköngäs and East Lapland Group's two-hour tour both start at 12. East Lapland Group also asks for good basic fitness.
Most tours last about three hours, and only part of that is on snowshoes; Northern Future, for example, gives 45 to 60 minutes of walking. The fire break and the drive mean time sitting still in the cold. Choose a tour that lends overalls and boots, or bring proper winter clothing; the clothing page lists what each operator provides.
Families of two should check the minimum: NordicUnique Travels needs at least two guests on weekdays and Saturdays and four on Sundays and public holidays, Nordic Escapes two paying adults and Arctic GM two participants. If the minimum is not met, the tour is moved or refunded.
Parents of a 7- and an 8-year-old write about a patient guide and a route the child completed with ease. None of the English critical reviews comes from a family.
“Mary is a friendly guide.. she was very warm and patient with her conversations with my 7 year old.. we thoroughly enjoyed this unique activity. Must do when you are in Rovaniemi.”
“The trip was wonderfully organized with pick-up, transport, and a very friendly guide. The walk through the beautiful surroundings was wonderful for the eyes, with peace, quiet, and amazing views. The walk lasted about an hour with breaks for photos and interesting stories. My 8-year-old daughter easily completed the entire route. After the walk, we were welcomed in a tipi and tasted traditional Finnish cuisine along with tea. After the trip, the driver took us to Santa Claus Village, where he showed us what’s worth seeing and visiting. I highly recommend it! We will definitely come back and do it again!”
“Our snowshoeing activity was guided by Lore and Ben. I was a little clumsy at first, but they were incredibly patient and encouraging throughout. It was a lot of fun, and I truly enjoyed the experience. …”

It depends on the tour: from 4 to 12 where a listing states one. Beyond Arctic takes children from 6, Wild about Lapland's day trip from 5, ToTheNorth from 8, Into North and Apukka Resort from 10, Arctic GM from 12.
Not on the regular group tours. Beyond Arctic offers private tours for children under 6, and Northern Future, a new listing from age 5, provides sleds for children who need them.
The walks are short and several listings call them easy, but deep snow is tiring. One parent reports that her 8-year-old completed the whole route easily.
Yes. NordicUnique Travels states that children under 12 must be accompanied by a paying adult. The other listings do not say, so ask the operator.
